The Confession: A Short Story

Artemis was sitting in his study with an open book in his lap. Holly Short was in the chair next to him, staring out the window with a distant look in her eyes. He had asked her to come over “just to catch up on things,” he had told her. However, there was something specifically he wanted to tell her, but it needed to be brought up in conversation delicately. A confession like this could shake and shatter their rock solid friendship in seconds. He was in a dilemma; he did not want to sound too cliché, but he also wanted to get his point across.

If Only, pt. 3Using a shuttle provided by Foaly, Holly flew to the Paradizo estate. “D’Arvit,” she cursed after circling the grounds. “She’s not here.”
She looked at Foaly’s image on the screen inside her helmet. The centaur nodded his head and replied, “It doesn’t matter. We know how to find them.”

Artemis once again woke up on the floor, except this time he kept his eyes closed. The last thing he wanted was another dart in his shoulder.  But he needed to know what was happening, so he cracked one eyelid open. However, he could not help but If Only, pt. 3

If Only, pt. 2Slowly, Artemis opened his eyes. It took only a second for the memory of what had happened to bombard him: Butler, tranquilizer darts, an intruder…
Without making a sound, Artemis calmly propped himself up on his elbows and studied his surroundings. To his relief, he saw Butler laying next to him still knocked out by the darts, but still alive. That was good. Then he looked past his manservant and noted he was in an outdated LEP shuttle. The elf--the elf in the black LEP uniform--was driving, unaware of Artemis’s awakening.

If Only, pt. 1Artemis sat in front of the security monitors, massaging his temples. His eyes were closed, and his mind was deep in thought. It had been a mere three days since he and Holly had gone back in time to retrieve the lemur and returned; it was exhausting just to think about it, about all that had happened--and yet Artemis could not help but recall certain memories, as much as he wished he could push them out of his mind.

Even though the whole incident was a paradox--none of it would have occurred if he had not done anything in the first place--a part of Artemis was glad it did.

Artemis Fowl Fanfiction Time!

Reading: The Memory Keeper's Daughter, ArtyFowl 6. Stiff,
Watching: House
Eating: Blueberry Muffins

I have 70% of my next Artemis Fowl fanfiction planned... it's just a little out of order and has several holes that need to be filled. But it's coming! Too late to stop it now. I'm re-reading the Time Paradox to refresh my memory. Here's what you can expect:

1. It will be longer than "If Only"
2. It will include Artemis, Holly, Foaly, N1, and Butler.
3. And possibly include Mulch, Minerva, and/or the Fowl family.
4. There will not be an evil villian. Just conflict between the characters. (In other words, less action and more "character developement")
5. Romance, deception, and some risky life-altering decisions!
6. The first chapter will be up as early as next week or as late as the end of July.

Any questions?

I'm really looking forward to writing this. "If Only" was safe and inside the lines. I feel like I'm stepping (a little) further with this one.
